2019 Mercedes-AMG 53-Series Models Engine Specs and Release Date

2018 NAIAS hosted the world premiere of the newest Mercedes-Benz model designation and the first three models of the series. The new 53-series, which includes the 2019 CLS, E-Class Coupe, and E-Class Cabriolet, are characterized by sporty design, hybrid efficiency, and heart-pounding performance. New AMG 53-Series Engine

Lying at the heart of the 53-series models is a new, electrified engine featuring innovative technology to maximize performance and efficiency. The new 6-cylinder in-line engine generates a thrilling 429 horsepower and a maximum of 384 lb-ft torque. Other notable performance features on the 53-series models include the smooth and responsive AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and the advanced AMG Performance 4MATIC+® all-wheel-drive system.

The powertrain system also features an EQ Boost start-alternator, which is positioned between the engine and transmission and combines an alternator and starter motor in an electric motor to improve efficiency. Additional engine features like an electric auxiliary compressor and an exhaust gas turbocharger are also designed to enhance AMG driving dynamics and performance while reducing emissions and fuel consumption. Thanks to the 53-series’ innovative performance features, the AMG CLS 53 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.


The 2019 Mercedes-AMG 53-Series models will go on sale in the U.S. by late 2018.
