Mercedes-Benz has been extremely busy this year revamping its entire lineup of passenger cars. From the CLA to the GT R, every car received something new at the very least. Actually, many of the cars in the lineup now are brand new or have new names. Somehow, in the midst of all this madness, the legendary German auto manufacturer is also heavily focused on its commercial van segment. Mercedes-Benz USA just opened a new Sprinter plant in South Carolina, so what does that mean for us?

Metris

When you think about the new markets that Mercedes-Benz vans is reaching out to, it actually makes sense that the company would need another plant. For example, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris is brand new for the 2016 model year. Before this, only the only option customers had were Sprinter Passenger, Sprinter Cargo, and Sprinter Crew. Now, with the Metris, drivers have the option of a smaller, more stylish and luxurious commercial van option.

Sprinter WORKER

The Sprinter WORKER is also brand new, offering customers the most affordable Sprinter Van in history in this simple package with options. Also new for next year is the Sprinter PREMIUM, which will basically be a simple package that sits opposite the worker as one of the most advanced commercial vans on the planet.

What Does it Mean?

For Americans in general, a new plant in South Carolina is a great thing. It will open more than 1,000 jobs and will help bring costs of the Sprinter and Metris vans down.
