Signs of a faulty transmission

  • Accelerating more slowly
  • Being unable to reverse
  • Smelling a burnt scent
  • Shifting gears becoming more difficult or makes weird sounds

What is wrong with the transmission on your car

The above warning signs indicate that your transmission is slipping. This can happen to both manual and automatic transmission vehicles but is a more serious issue in automatic transmissions. In order to better identify this issue, you may be interested to know what causes a slipping transmission. A few causes of a slipping transmission include:

  • Having low fluid levels or burnt fluid
  • Wearing out of transmission bands, gears, torque converters, or clutches
  • Damaging the solenoid
