Mercedes-Benz Racing Yacht

When you think of Mercedes-Benz, you think of high velocity and premium leather. You think of massaging seats and autonomous parking. What shouldn’t cross your mind, at least until now, is a boat. Mercedes-Benz has teamed up with HUGO BOSS to make one of the most advanced racing yachts in the history of the ocean. What makes the Mercedes-Benz racing yacht so extraordinary? Great question. Read on for some answers.

HUGO BOSS

The name of this racing yacht is the HUGO BOSS. It is constructed of carbon fiber and flame-resistant nomex. This makes it extremely light, strong, and, consequently, fast. It was designed to participate in the Vendee Globe race, which will begin in November 2016. Mercedes-Benz hasn’t said much about what the inside of the yacht looks like, but we expect you probably won’t find an 8-inch touch screen or a panorama sunroof like you would in the S-Class.

Alex Thomson Racing

Mercedes-Benz has never participated in nautical sports before but it has many different technologies and patents that could benefit a boat racing team. This is why Alex Thomson, who is the youngest yachtsman to win a race around the world, is excited to work with Mercedes-Benz. The paint on the HUGO BOSS reflects infrared radiation, helping to keep the yacht cool when exposed to higher temperatures. Perhaps we will see this paint on race cars in the near future? One thing is certain, Mercedes-Benz is going to dominate the yacht racing scene because that is just what it does.
