Steps to sharing your Mercedes-Benz digital key with a second driver

We promise it’s a simple process, and you’ll love the convenience of being able to deactivate a shared key afterward, returning sole ownership to yourself. 

  • Place your spare key in your glovebox. 
  • Step out of your vehicle and close the doors. 
  • Open “Digital Key Handover” in your Mercedes Me app on your phone. 
  • Deactivate the spare key using your 4-digit pin. 
  • Handover the vehicle location to one of your contacts in the app. 
  • Have the second driver stand in front of your vehicle and unlock the doors. 
  • Activate the key using your 4-digit pin. 
  • Use the app to deactivate the key upon return.
