Less Than 12 Months Away From a Convertible GT!

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Release Date

If you were a fan of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, you may be wondering why there is no convertible option for the GT, GT S, or GT R. We know cabriolets have to sacrifice performance for comfort, but any car with a price tag as large as the one on the GT should come with the option to remove the roof. Most drivers won’t be able to drive the GT to its full potential anyway, so what’s the big deal? The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster release date will be this time next year for the American market.

Roadster VS Cabriolet

There is a special distinction between roadster and cabriolet. In the Mercedes-Benz world, a roadster is a two-seat sports car, designed to be extra light for maximum performance. A cabriolet is a luxury version. It is much heavier and usually comes with extra options as standard equipment. Although the idea of a roadster GT excites us, we think a luxury cabriolet would be a good addition.

The 4.0L biturbo V8 in the GT lineup is one of the most legendary engines in the history of the sports car. It is unique to the industry because it uses a “hot inside v” configuration and a dry sump lubrication system.
