Mercedes-Benz Offers Cheapest Passenger Van in Company History

2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris WORKER Passenger Van Release Date

We might not see its ubiquity in the United States, but Mercedes-Benz is actually one of the biggest names in the commercial van industry as well as the luxury passenger car market. In the last year alone, Mercedes-Benz announced more than just a few new commercial van integrations that have helped the German manufacturer saturate the market around the world. One of the newest integrations is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris WORKER Passenger Van to be released before the end of 2016.

World’s First WORKER Passenger Van

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz came out with the Sprinter WORKER. The point of it is to make the Sprinter more affordable by removing every option from the package. Of course, these options are still available with the Sprinter. Just not the WORKER model. It is the least expensive of all Sprinter vans and drops the infamous van down a notch to penetrate the economy market. The Sprinter WORKER, on the other hand, is only available as a cargo model. This means the Metris WORKER Passenger is the very first of its kind.

Metris WORKER Engine

The Metris WORKER will only be available with one engine, regardless of whether you are looking at a cargo or passenger variation. It is a 2.0L I4 with 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. With the help of a Mercedes-Benz 7-speed automatic transmission, it will be capable of 24 miles per gallon on the highway, providing a total range of 400 miles.

Capacities and Specifications

On the inside, the Metris Passenger can carry 186 cubic feet of cargo. With a gross vehicle weight of 6,724 pounds, it is also capable of carrying 2,502 pounds in its payload or 5,000 with conventional towing.
