The new 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe is expected to arrive in Phoenix, AZ by fall 2018, ushering in the new design idiom of Mercedes-Benz, which is distinguished by clear contours and reduced body lines. The new coupe features those, as well as new model-specific elements like a forward-slanting front section, a grille contour that widens towards the base, wide, low-set headlights, and two-section taillamps. Despite the updates, the third-generation model still reflects the timeless aura of the first CLS that quickly became a design icon.
The 2019 CLS Coupe offers a comfortable, luxurious interior with seating for five for the first time ever. A fully digital cockpit with a high-resolution central display and newly designed seats help create a sporty cabin feel. Advanced technologies and premium features enhance the driving experience, with features like ambient lighting with illuminated air vents, Car-to-X communication, and smartphone integration.
A completely new in-line six-cylinder engine powers the third-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS. The CLS 450 and CLS 450 4MATIC® models both boast an electrified engine with EQ Boost and a 48-volt onboard electrical system. The integrated electric motor, EQ Boost, assists the combustion engine and makes driving without it possible. This “sailing” capability makes fuel savings possible that were previously only found within the hybrid segment.
The 2019 CLS Coupe has a four-link front suspension and a five-link rear suspension. Available AIR BODY CONTROL® air suspension has been improved, and drivers can now choose driving characteristics from comfortable to sporty via the driving mode switch. The coupe delivers a thrilling 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. An additional 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque is available over short periods via EQ Boost. The 2019 CLS reaches 60 MPH in just 4.8 seconds.
