2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe vs Jaguar F-Pace

Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar share a passion for greatness that echoes around the world. Whether it be a sedan, an SUV, or a back-breaking Formula One car, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz are well known for knocking it out of the park. Today, we look at the sport-utility vehicle. More specifically, it is the crossover sport-utility vehicle we are interested in. For Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, this means the GLC Coupe and the F-Pace. For 2017, they both offer some of the best automotive luxury money can buy, they do it in different ways.

On the outside, the GLC 300 and the F-Pace Premium are they exact same length, down to a tenth of an inch. The F-Pace has two extra inches of height, which provides driver's with a little more headroom, but it also takes away from overall performance, sacrificing efficiency and handling capabilities, but it would be difficult to notice a difference behind the wheel.

Gasoline versus diesel fuel

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Coupe and the Jaguar F-Pace Premium are entry-level trims for their respective models, which means they both can be upgraded with larger engines. However, at the MSRP listed above, the F-Pace comes with a diesel engine while the Mercedes-Benz comes with a gasoline engine. The main difference between the two is that the diesel engine favors torque and the gasoline engine favors horsepower. This means you can expect a little more agility from the Jaguar and more overall power from the Mercedes-Benz.

When it comes to gasoline and diesel fuel, neither is superior to the other, but they each have advantages. Because of this, it is important that a vehicle is built around these advantages. For example the GLC Coupe uses a 9-speed automatic transmission to make up for the missing torque that drivers get with the F-Pace. Also, because the F-Pace only has an 8-speed transmission, the GLC Coupe offers a ride that is more comfortable and more efficient.
