Powerful Motor Makes the GLC A Joy To Drive

The outgoing 2021 GLC-2liter Class’s turbocharged inline-4 engine remains unchanged in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. This turbocharged engine produces 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is available with both RWD and AWD 4MATIC drivetrains.

Even if the performance figures aren’t going to excite enthusiasts, the inline-4 motor is quite capable throughout the rev range. The turbo lag is well concealed, and including a reasonably large turbocharger provides more than enough grunt for those long highway drives. The torque band is also sufficiently broad. However, the top-end performance is disappointing.

Decent Ride Quality And Road Manners

The 2022 GLC-Class gets a multi-link front and rear suspension system with coil springs on all four corners. Anti-roll bars are also included as a standard. The ride is firm, as one would expect from a German SUV. However, we found the overall ride quality superior to that of many competitors, including the BMW X3 and Porsche Macan.

The ride quality was stiffer while riding through the streets with broken roads. The more enormous potholes get into the cabin, and the ride isn’t as smooth as in the Genesis GV70. However, the ride quality is incredible once you get above 40 mph.

The Cabin Feels Ultra Premium

The interior quality and refinement are unrivaled by a Mercedes. With a starting MSRP of $44,900, the 2022 GLC-Class feels as premium as the brand’s more expensive offerings. The cabin is exquisite and is wrapped in some of the finest materials available. The dashboard and door cards are upholstered in soft leather.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is above the BMW X3, with 10 MB-Tex upholstery colors and four different trim insert options (wooden inserts). The interior is elegant, and everything is well-made. Other elements that contribute to the interior’s richness include brushed aluminum inserts, silver and chrome accents, and tactile buttons.
