The Mercedes-EQ lineup of all-electric vehicles for the US market for the 2022 model year comprises the EQS, the EQE, and the EQB. So far, we’ve only seen the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan, and its SUV version, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, with the EQB and EQE said to be arriving later this year. This blog by Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead in Peoria, AZ, gives an overview of what you can expect from the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB, so if you’re interested, jump right in.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB is an all-terrain, all-electric compact SUV that offers optional seating for up to seven passengers. As its name suggests, the EQB will be based on the Mercedes-Benz GLB compact SUV.
Although classified as a compact electric SUV, the EQB has a 111.3-inch wheelbase, which offers enough space for an optional third row. The EQB offers two additional seats that can be folded or unfolded depending on your needs, making it the ideal electric SUV to get the whole family moving. It also offers a generous 23 cubic feet of cargo capacity, which allows it to serve as a workhorse for transporting luggage, groceries, sporting equipment, and more.

The EQB looks similar to the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB from the outside, but it features a few design cues that let you know it belongs to the EQ family. These include:
The interior of the EQB is quintessentially Mercedes-Benz, with its main highlight being the Widescreen Cockpit that creates a futuristic environment to control the vehicle and experience the next-generation MBUX Multimedia System that supports Natural Language Understanding and “Hey Mercedes” Keyword Activation.

The 2022 EQB will deliver robust power thanks to a 420 V lithium-ion battery with 66.5 kWh battery capacity. The base EQS 300 model makes 225 hp and 288 lb.-ft of torque, while the top-end 350 4MATIC makes 288 hp and 324 lb.-ft of torque. But what’s impressive is how the SUV manages all that power.
The EQB uses Navigation with Electric Intelligence to monitor navigation data, traffic signals, and information from the vehicle sensors to conserve and recover energy. It also helps manage your journey times by factoring charging stations, charging duration, weather, topography, and even your driving style into its estimates.
As far as charging is concerned, the 2022 EQB supports 110 kW DC fast charging, allowing it to go from 10% to 80% in as little as 32 minutes. The EV also gets its owners access to the world’s largest charging network through the Mercedes me Charge program.
Expect the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB to be available soon at Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead and other Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide.
