AUTOMOBILE names Mercedes-AMG® GT R as a 2018 All-Star

The Mercedes-AMG® GT R was recently recognized for its incredible track performance by AUTOMOBILE, a magazine that offers in-depth examinations of the automotive industry. The magazine named the sports coupe a 2018 Automobile All-Star, a prestigious award that was presented at the 2018 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on March 10, 2018. The GT R was selected as an All-Stars winner after the AUTOMOBILE editorial staff tested several sports car both on road and on the racetrack, outperforming a long a list of all new or heavily updated vehicles. Max Horsepower and Top Speed

Under the hood, the AMG® GT R boasts a handcrafted AMG® 4.0L V8 biturbo engine and a specifically-adapted seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Other track performance enhancements on the sports coupe include intelligent lightweight construction, active rear-wheel steering, innovative aerodynamics, an adjustable coilover suspension, and a 9-way adjustable AMG® TRACTION CONTROL system.

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG® GT R generates a maximum output of 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque and reaches a top speed of an exhilarating 198 mph. The sports coupe can reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds and boasts a 7:10.9 lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Extreme track performance, however, doesn’t require sacrifice as the GT R also offers premium cabin features for comfortable day-to-day driving, including KEYLESS-GO, COMAND® navigation, heated seats with memory, and numerous smart safety systems.
