The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan received a mid-cycle refresh for 2018, and is thoroughly updated throughout the model lineup. Every model configuration has received several notable changes, including new trim, bumper, and wheel designs and multiple new engine options. S 450 and S 560 Sedan

The new 2018 S-Class Sedan designations, S 450 and S 560, boast new V6 and V8 engines. The S 450 Sedan replaces the outgoing six-cylinder 550e plug-in hybrid model with a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine that produces an exhilarating 362 horsepower. The S 560 Sedan replaces the outgoing twin-turbocharged 4.7L V8 S 550 model with a smaller, also twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine. The V8 engine delivers a heart-pounding 463 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

AMG S 63 Sedan and Mercedes-Maybach

Although the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Sedan retains its name, it does receive an engine upgrade. The S 63 Sedan drops its twin-turbo 5.5L V8 for a higher-output version of the twin-turbo 4.0L V8. The result is an increase in horsepower from 577 to 603 and the same torque output of 664 lb-ft. The seven-speed automatic is also replaced with a nine-speed unit. Finally, the king of the S-Class lineup—so much so that it’s a separate model—the Mercedes-Maybach also receives a new model name and V8 engine. The Mercedes-Maybach S 560 Sedan now also features the smaller, enhanced 4.0L V8 engine.
