The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 comes powered by a 48-volt hybrid system that includes a 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder turbocharged engine combined with an integrated Starter-Generator electric motor. The gasoline-powered engine delivers 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Alternatively, the Integrated Starter-Generator electric motor generates up to 21 horsepower, allowing gas-free coasting and bringing back energy during deceleration. The powertrain features a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles. It also supports a 4MATIC fully variable all-wheel-drive drivetrain to send the power to all four wheels. The powertrain of GLS 450 helps the SUV to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, delivering a silky-smooth experience on the road.

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS – Fuel Economy & More

With a fuel capacity of 23.8 gallons, the 7-seater GLS 450 serves excellent performance and incredible fuel efficiency. Its EPA estimated fuel economy ratings are 19 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined. Other features include an ECO Start/Stop system that automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and different idle situations to save fuel and reduce emissions. The 2022 GLS 450 also comes equipped with Dynamic Select and AIRMATIC® suspension. The Dynamic Select offers four pre-set modes: ECO, Comfort, Sport, and Off-Road, plus an individual mode you can personalize. Each mode adapts throttle response, shift points, ESP, and more, with Off-Road tailored for dirt, gravel, sand, etc.
