Who Wants To Name The New Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck Concept?

Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck Concept

The first ever Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is going to be unveiled on Tuesday, October 24th at 9:30 AM MT. Although we don’t know much about the vehicle yet, we can make a few assumptions based on the current Mercedes-Benz lineup, the direction Mercedes-Benz is headed in, and the teaser video that was released promoting the reveal in Sweden this week.

New Exterior Design

The pickup truck is one of the few markets Mercedes-Benz has yet to conquer. The reason for the delay is not that it can’t. In fact, a few of SUVs in the current lineup can easily be imagined as pickup trucks because they are so similar. The reason Mercedes-Benz held off on making a pickup truck is because the company was afraid it did not have enough fans interested in pickup trucks, so it left the truck game to Chevy and Ford. Tomorrow, you can expect to see something that looks like a GLE mixed with a GLS.

Potential Name

In the title of the teaser video, Mercedes-Benz made it clear that this is only a concept. It is not a production car…yet. That being said, we see no better-fitting name than the GLX or GX. There have also been rumors suggesting GLT for a name, but only time will tell what Mercedes-Benz will name its pickup fleet. Could the GL-Class name be brought back?

Possible Trim Models

For the sake of simplicity, lets pretend the truck will be called the GLX. The trim models would most likely be a GLX350 with a 3.5L V6, a GLX400 with a 3.0L V6 biturbo, and a GLX550 with a 4.0L V8 biturbo. After that, if we are so lucky, we could also see a Mercedes-AMG GLX63 and a GLX65 with more than 600 horsepower. Of course, a PIH GLX550e is also a likely candidate, but the focus will certainly be on the combustion engine versions. If you have any questions about the unveiling of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLX Pickup Truck Concept, watch the stream live tomorrow to get all the juicy details!
