⏰ 2-minute Read – The new Mercedes-Benz EQB is designed to blend luxury with efficiency, and the ECO Assist feature significantly optimizes your driving experience.
This advanced system helps you maximize energy efficiency, reduce consumption, and charge the battery through recuperation. Here’s a simple guide by our team at Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead in Peoria, AZ, on how to use the ECO Assist feature effectively.
ECO Assist analyzes the route ahead and provides real-time guidance to help you drive more efficiently. It anticipates traffic conditions, such as vehicles in front, speed limits, turns, or descents, and alerts you when to release the accelerator. Following these prompts can reduce energy use and enhance battery charging through regenerative braking.
To enable ECO Assist, ensure your EQB is in Recuperation Level D Auto. Hold the left or right steering wheel paddle to select this mode. Route-Based Speed Adjustment and Speed Limit Adoption should also be activated so the system can respond effectively to route-specific events.
Here’s how:
When ECO Assist detects an event, such as a sharp turn, a traffic circle, or a speed limit change, it displays an appropriate symbol on the driver display. A message prompting you to “remove your foot from the accelerator pedal” will also appear.
Once you follow the prompt, the symbol turns green, and your vehicle automatically decelerates in overrun mode while charging the high-voltage battery. However, the system won’t let the car completely stop so that manual braking may be required in some situations.
ECO Assist is an innovative tool for eco-conscious drivers. It helps minimize energy consumption while maintaining the luxury ride Mercedes-Benz is known for. By leveraging its guidance, you’ll save energy and enjoy a smoother and more intuitive driving experience.
