Full Electric Mercedes-Benz S-Class Release Date

Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to electric cars. It has quite a few hybrid vehicles that rely on electricity and although it only makes one fully electric car, a quick Google search will show you that Mercedes-Benz is more than getting it’s feet wet with electric concept cars. These electric cars were expected to be about 10 years away, but because Germany is now offering incentives to produce electric cars, we may see a fully-electric Mercedes-Benz S-Class release date in the next four years.

S550e Plug-in Hybrid

Right now, the S-Class can be purchased for just under $100,000 with a 3.0L biturbo V6 engine combined with an electric motor to create 436 combined horsepower. If a fully electric model does become available, we expect it to share the same name and have roughly the same amount of power or maybe a little less.

Performance

As mentioned above, the electric S-Class would be an entry level S-Class. It would pale in comparison to the S600 or one of the AMG models, but what it would lack in performance, it would make up for in range. In an effort to combat the doings of Tesla, the S-Class would need to be able to travel roughly 300 miles on a full charge. Knowing Mercedes-Benz, it probably has some cards up its sleeve to knock this number out of the park. 350 miles? Only time will tell!

United States Release

As with many great things that come out of Europe, the United States will likely have to wait a while for the electric S-Class to achieve success before it makes its way across the pond, as they say. If this does go into production, we expect it will be released for United States sale sometime in 2022.
