Does Mercedes-Benz have an autonomous vehicle?

Automotive brands are always trying to out do each other by coming up with new and exciting technologies to make driving smarter and safer. It can be hard to keep up with what each automotive brand is up to, so today we’re going to check in with Mercedes-Benz. There have been rumors that the brand is developing an autonomous vehicle. Today we’re going check in with their progress so far.

Does Mercedes-Benz have a self-driving car?

As of right now, Mercedes-Benz does not have a self-driving car, but they have been some major strides in the past few years. This development started back in 2013 when Mercedes-Benz developed DISTRONIC PLUS® with lane guidance. This was the first feature of its kind to be available on select models. Then in 2014 Mercedes-Benz became one of the first automobile manufacturers permitted to test autonomously driving cars on the public roads of California.

Mercedes-Benz works each year to get closer and closer to their goal of developing a fully operational autonomous vehicle. So far Mercedes-Benz has seen some impressive major developments with features that give models the ability to automatically act in specific driving situations. These available features include: Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Route-Based Speed Adaption, PRE-SAFE® PLUS, Active Speed Limit Assist and more!
