There are 2 types of ultraviolet rays you want to watch out for; UVA and UVB. UVB is the one that burns your skin. Thankfully, all your car windows have a film on them to protect you from these harmful rays. Unfortunately, it’s usually only the windshield that blocks the UVA rays. Now, you may be ready just dismiss this, since UVA rays don’t burn you, but you might not want to be so hasty. UVA rays can cause premature wrinkling and aging. So, the short answer is no, you can’t get sunburnt through the window of your car. However, there are still consequences of sitting in the sun too long that may encourage you to limit the amount of sun you are exposed to when driving.
