How Can Mercedes-Benz Technology Help Prevent Accidents?

In addition to being known for incredible luxury and performance, Mercedes-Benz is lauded for its impressive and innovative safety technology. The ability to stop a collision before it happens may sound like something from a sci-fi movie, but in reality, select Mercedes-Benz models – like the 2017 S-Class – offer Active Brake Assist which can do just that. No, this isn’t the future, but with a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, it’s hard to tell the difference, sometimes. Mercedes-Benz Active Brake Assist Technology

Active Brake Assist is a collision avoidance system from Mercedes-Benz. In an emergency situation, Active Brake Assist will alert the driver of any dangerous oncoming traffic using an audible and visual warning. If the driver reacts quickly, the system will assist in more quickly and effectively applying the brakes. If the driver does not respond in adequate time, the Active Brake Assist system will jump in and the automatic braking system will be applied.

With a stereo camera radar, the Active Brake Assist system is able to monitor surrounding traffic, especially cross-traffic intersections. The Active Brake Assist from Mercedes-Benz interprets driving behavior and will help you to stop your vehicle when you most need it. Drivers can adjust the system’s sensitivity and timing with three modes: Early, Medium and Late.
