2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB Cold Weather Testing: From Snowflakes to Blizzards

At the Mercedes Technology Center in Sindelfingen, engineers put the GLB through extreme conditions in state-of-the-art climatic wind tunnels. Temperatures plunge as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit while high-powered fans and snow cannons simulate blizzards with snow racing toward the SUV at up to 124 mph. These tunnels even replicate icy road surfaces with rolling road test rigs, allowing 4MATIC® models to demonstrate traction and stability under real winter conditions.

The interior is equally impressive. The climate control in the GLB heats the cabin rapidly, warming occupants’ upper bodies and hands even on freezing mornings. Optional features like the MBUX Superscreen and panoramic roof complement a flexible interior with available seating for seven, making cold-weather drives comfortable and connected. Every function, from windshield de-icing to air inlet performance, is scrutinized, ensuring clarity and safety during snowy commutes.

Mercedes-Benz doesn’t stop there. The SUV also undergoes heat testing to simulate desert roads, making sure it performs well year-round. The result is a compact SUV that’s prepared for anything the weather throws its way.
