Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 Biturbo Engine

The soul of the 2018 AMG E-Class Wagon is located under the hood with its incredibly powerful, handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine. The engine was designed to generate minimal lag and pressure loss. The engine delivers a thrilling output of 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque sustained from 2,500-4,500 rpm. The engine’s AMG Cylinder Management system uses advanced technology to increase the engine’s efficiency despite the high output ratings.

The 2018 E-Class Wagon’s engine is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission. The transmission utilizes a wet clutch instead of a torque converter, which enables short shift times and fast multiple downshifts. The wagon is also offered exclusively with all-wheel-drive, utilizing the advanced AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. The system enables E-Class Wagon drivers to rely on high driving stability and handling safety in tough road conditions.

AMG Multi-Chamber Air Suspension

The 2018 E-Class Wagon also utilizes an all-new AMG multi-chamber air suspension system with continuously variable damping. The new system ensures high levels of camber stability, steering precision, and driving dynamics. The adaptive damping offers three selectable modes—Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. The five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT programs—Comfort, Sport, Sport +, RACE, and Individual—affect key parameters to customize the drive, including engine response, suspension, transmission, ESP, steering, and all-wheel-drive.
