2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe vs 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet

The coupe itself is not new to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class lineup, but the cabriolet is. With the recent reorganization of the brand’s model nomenclature, it only makes sense that the C-Class had to be branched out like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. There are many beliefs associated with convertibles, but in the case of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe vs the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet, there really isn’t much of a difference.

2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Performance

In the past, convertible versions of sports cars had to be manufactured separately from the coupe and sedan models because the chassis was often a different size. The reason for the different size stemmed from the fact that the cabriolet doesn’t have the extra integrity that comes with the roof of the coupe connecting both sizes of the car. To compensate for this issue, convertibles of the past have been wider, longer, and sometimes just downright obscure.

Thanks to new suspension technologies and stabilization features, the oblong cabriolet problem is no longer relevant. As proof, Mercedes-Benz is producing the C-Class cabriolet with the same exact dimensions as the C-Class coupe. They have the same wheelbase, are the same length and width, and are only .2 inches apart in height. The cabriolet is slightly stretched taller to make opening and closing of the top more fluid.

2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Price

In terms of performance and driving experience, the C-Class Cabriolet is definitely a winner. It handles and drives with the same dynamics as the Coupe without the burden of the sun-blocking roof above you. That covers one problem, but still leaves the issue of price. The Cabriolet will likely be around $5,000 more expensive than the coupe model. If you ask us, it is worth it, especially if you live in a warmer climate.
