The 2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC43 Roadster, previously known as the SLK, has a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds. To give you something to compare that to, the worlds fastest motorcycles use about 3 seconds to get to the same speed. This is amazing considering motorcycles weight less than 1,000 pounds when the SLC43 weighs in closer to 3,000 pounds. How could the 2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC43 0-60 time be possible? 2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC43 Engine Specifications

Underneath the hood of the Mercedes-AMG SLC43 lives a beastly 3.0-liter biturbo V6. This hand-built engine(yes they actually build them by hand!) puts out a healthy 362 horsepower and a peak torque output of 384 lbs/ft³. These numbers are significantly lower than that of the SL-Class, but relatively speaking, the SLC is lighter and costs much less.

As you may have expected, Mercedes-Benz will be electronically limiting the top speed capabilities of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC43 when it comes out in the spring. Mercedes-Benz has indicated that the top speed will be set at 155 miles per hour. Something to think about though is that in just 4.6 seconds, you are already going more than a third of the top speed. After feeling how quickly 155 sneaks up on you, you will understand why the speed is limited.

2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC43 Transmission

One of the reasons why the 4.6-second 0-60 time is possible is thanks to a dual clutch, 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission. With nine gears and a Sport+ option on the DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, you literally have to be careful not to lose your lunch. Not only this, it also helps the SLC43 achieve the title of most efficient roadster currently on the market.

2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC55

Mercedes-Benz has not yet commented on whether or not we will see an SLC55 this year. Because of its presence in the SLK platform, we can almost guarantee that there will be one and it will most likely be unveiled at one of the upcoming international car shows this summer or fall.
