The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has never been available as a convertible since its official introduction in 1993. Even before that, the models that would later become the C-Class were never offered as a cabriolet because they were meant to be economy cars. The C-Class still represents the Mercedes-Benz brand as an affordable entry to German luxury, but trims like the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Cabriolet are changing what it means to drive a C-Class.

The release date, as promised by Mercedes-Benz, will be before the fall of this year. There have not been any pricing numbers released as of yet but as a Mercedes-Benz rule of thumb, you can add about $3,000 onto the sticker price of the sedan. Considering this and the standard yearly price increase, the price of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 S is approximately $80,000.

S-Class Inspired

Like the C-Class, the S-Class is also being offered as a cabriolet this year. The difference is that the S-Class Cabriolet was once offered as a cabriolet long ago and is now back after 44 years. The slightly redesigned body of the C-Class also more closely resembles the S-Class than it did last year, giving drivers another reason to save money on a C-Class without sacrificing elite status on the road.

C63 vs C63 S

The difference between the Mercedes-AMG C63 and the C63S is a matter of tuning options. The C63 S comes with a more aggressive DYNAMIC SELECT Race Mode that will push comfort down the list of priorities. To the regular commuter, the difference in the way the two cars drive won’t be very noticeable, but for the track king, the S is a necessity.
