The C43 technically not a brand new name for Mercedes-Benz. The C43 was actually the flagship model for the C-Class in the late 90s before the introduction of the C55 and then the C63.We aren’t sure what the fascination with odd numbers is all about, but we appreciate the fast cars nonetheless. For 2017, the C43 badge returns as the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43. It will be available as a sedan or a coupe, and it will be available for a price of approximately $50,000.

Price

Mercedes-Benz has not yet released an official price, but based on the price of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG sedan and the price of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, we can speculate that it will be cost somewhere between $50,000 and $55,000.

Performance

The appeal to the C43 will probably be affordability for most. It will have more than a 100-horsepower deficit to the C63 and an almost 150-horsepower drop from the C63 S. That being said, if you’re someone who has to have the best because, how can you live with yourself knowing there is a faster one, then you probably won’t be able to succumb to the practicality of the C43. If you are someone who wants to get into the Mercedes-Benz game but doesn’t want to lose your retirement over it, then the C43 might be the perfect opportunity.

Efficiency

In the past, the AMG C-Class lineup has been a V8 stomping ground. With this reintroduction of the C43, a 3.0L biturbo V6 will take over for the thirsty V8, making the C43 one of the most efficient AMG C-Class models in history. The current Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sedan gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway. We expect the numbers for the coupe to either remain the same or go up by one or two on both ends.
