Memorial Day flags
The year is already flying by, which means it’s time to look ahead to another holiday. The next one to plan for is Memorial Day. For many people this means celebrating with a three-day weekend. Today we’re going to help you find some 2017 Memorial Day events here in the Phoenix area that you can attend while enjoying your day off.
The Pioneers’ Cemetery Assn (PCA) is hosting its 34th annual Memorial Day Observance and open house on Monday, May 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pioneer & Military Memorial Park. The ceremony will include keynote speaker Len Marcisz who will be honoring Arizona’s fallen heroes. Several fraternal organization and local reenactor groups in historic dress will also be participating in the day’s ceremonies.
Cave Creek is hosting its eighth annual balloon festival on the driving range of the Rancho Mañana Golf Course on Saturday, May 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pre-paid tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for kids ages 12 and under and children 2 and under are free. Ticket prices on the day of the event are slightly higher. In addition, veterans and active military will receive their ticket at half price with the proper identification.
