What Makes the GT 53 Powertrain So Performance-Focused?<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The GT 53 uses two electric motors, with one positioned on each axle.\u00a0The rear motor delivers the primary propulsion, while the front motor provides\u00a0additional\u00a0power when needed. Through a Disconnect Unit, the front motor can disengage during lighter driving conditions. This approach helps balance performance with efficiency.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An innovative two-speed transmission further supports the electric drivetrain. First gear uses an 11:1 ratio for strong launches and city driving.\u00a0Second\u00a0gear uses a 5:1 ratio for\u00a0higher-speed\u00a0performance and highway efficiency. Shift points adapt to driving conditions and the selected AMG\u00ae DYNAMIC SELECT program.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power comes from a 106-kWh usable high-voltage battery with directly cooled round cells. The battery uses 2,660 cells arranged across 18 modules. Its 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 600 kW at compatible charging stations. Thermal management is another important part of the powertrain. The Central Coolant Hub coordinates cooling for major components.
