Step-by-Step Guide to Change a Mercedes-Benz Key Fob Battery  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Alright, what’s step one?” That\u2019s what my neighbor Mike asked as we tackled his key fob on a sunny Saturday morning.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s what we did: First, you\u2019ll need a CR 2032 3V coin cell battery\u2014easy to find at most grocery stores or hardware shops.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, pop out the emergency key. Slide it from the bottom of the fob. Easy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insert that same key into the small slot\u2014you\u2019ll see it. Push gently in the direction of the arrow until the cover pops up. Don\u2019t try to hold the cover shut at the same time\u2014it needs to lift.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the emergency key to pry the cover off carefully. Once you\u2019re in the right spot, it should lift easily.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tap the fob gently against your palm. The old battery should fall out. If not, a gentle shake usually does the trick.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take your new battery and place it in\u2014positive side up. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to avoid getting oils or dirt on it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snap the cover back into place. Make sure the front tabs slide into the housing first, then press down evenly on both sides.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Re-insert the emergency key. That\u2019s it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
