Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class Takata Airbag Recall
What came first, the automobile or the recall? Since the invention of the car, manufacturers have been held responsible to cover the costs of any recalls set forth by the manufacturer itself or a third party such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Now, more than 100 years later, we still are faced with things such as the
Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class Takata airbag recall.

Takata Recall at Mercedes-Benz
Takata is a company that makes airbags for car companies around the world. Companies like Ford, Honda, BMW, and Nissan have already recalled millions of cars to replace a faulty airbag inflation device. The recalls began earlier this year when the issue began showing up as a cause of death on multiple occasions. Basically, the inflator that shoots the airbag out of the steering wheel has the potential to explode instead of inflating the airbag. This causes shrapnel to fly in every direction, causing more harm than good, as you can imagine.
To diffuse any confusion, we want to emphasize the difference between the GLC and the GLK-Class. The
GLK-Class is no longer made anymore after being replaced by the
GLC. This does not make them the same car, so you don't have to worry if you drive a GLC.
GLK-Class Owners
If you own one of the following GLK-Class models, you will want to visit your local service center right away. The defect will not affect how the vehicle drives, only what it will do in an accident to protect you. As this is an international recall, there is no charge for either the labor or the parts, so there really isn't a reason for you to avoid the problem. If you are unsure whether your GLK-Class is covered under the recall, contact us online, call us on the phone, or stop by in person to get the answers you need to make sure your car is in perfect working condition.
