After 44 years of claustrophobia, the S-Class will be available in the spring as a convertible. The last convertible offered through the flagship S-Class was also the first convertible offered, which was in 1971. Mercedes-Benz didn’t say why it discontinued the cabriolet model for so long, but we speculate it had something to do with the rising popularity of the SL-Class Roadster. That is pretty much all out the window, or the roof, because the Mercedes-Benz just announced an AMG S 65 model to tower over the AMG S 63.
