Unveiling of Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Scheduled

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Specifications

In 2015, production of the SLS AMG GT ended and took the convertible option with it. Now, if you want a cabriolet that goes fast, you have to settle for a C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SLC, or SL-Class to get your convertible fix. Of course, these are all amazing cars, but none of them are the AMG GT. It is consistently labeled as one of the most satisfying cars to drive and has one of the most unique engines in the automotive industry. The good news is that we won’t have to wait much longer for an new convertible GT.. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster will have the price tag of an SL-Class with the specifications of the AMG GT.

4.0L Hot Inside V Biturbo V8 with Dry Sump

One of the things that makes the AMG GT one of the most popular vehicles on the race track and across the globe is the V8 engine it harbors underneath the hood. By placing the two turbochargers closer to the cylinder blocks, the 4.0L V8 can make more power and operates at a higher temperature than typical turbocharged engines. This is why it is labeled as a hot inside V engine and you can count on seeing the exact same engine in the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster. It has 456 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, capable of launching the coupe to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds. The roadster will definitely be a little bit heavier, which may affect the acceleration.

Weight Ratio

The second main appeal to the AMG GT is the weight distribution. With a ratio of 47 to 53 percent weight distributed between the front and rear axles, the AMG GT is almost perfectly balanced. This eliminates oversteer and understeer, leaving only the road in front of you. It will be difficult for Mercedes-AMG to figure out the weight distribution on a convertible, but we have a feeling it will not fail to impress.
