2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S Driveshaft Recall

After the unveiling of the new 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R, it seams the GT S may be jealous, because it is revolting. We don't blame it for wanting more attention, but this really isn't the way to do this, GT S. Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Adhesive Bond

The driveshaft connects to the transmission at one end, and the differential at the other. A special adhesive is used to seal this connection, and it is this adhesive that is failing. Basically, if the driveshaft disconnects from either end, you aren't going anywhere. It isn't the adhesive itself that is the problem, but neglect by employees to clean the surfaces before applying the bond. What Owners Should Do

The recall affects cars built between June 1 and July 24 of 2015. Given the amount of money you paid for your all but perfect GT S, we suggest having a service department look at it right away. In fact, call your local Mercedes-AMG center and have them pick it up from your house. Most Mercedes-Benz dealerships offer this service. There have been no injuries related to the recall, so this is probably just a precautionary measure being taken by Mercedes-Benz.
