Ask Mercedes

Owners of 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class models can use the Ask Mercedes app to locate and learn about their vehicle’s various functions via their smartphone camera. When users direct their smartphone camera at the dashboard, center console, or steering wheel, augmented reality beacons are superimposed into the controls and displays shown in their smartphone’s camera image.

Users can then select a beacon to receive information on the corresponding feature and its function(s) directly onto their smartphone screen. The information communicated via text descriptions, photo and video content, or a link to the corresponding section of the digital owner’s manual.

“We are creating a personalized customer experience that goes well beyond the vehicle. With innovative services such as ‘Ask Mercedes’, we are further expanding our digital ecosystem”, says Britta Seeger, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales.

Ask Mercedes is only available on 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class models (non-AMG®), but the application is expected to expand to a few more models in the coming months. Ask Mercedes is available in the Apple App Store and is compatible with iPhones 6 and newer running iOS or higher.
